Rottweiler nature and character

Rottweilers have a particularly pronounced protective instinct. For this reason, it is very important to attach importance to a consistent upbringing and a good socialization with this dog breed. Otherwise this characteristic trait of the Rottweiler can lead to problems, which should not be underestimated considering the size and strength of these animals.

In addition, Rottweilers are also considered:

  • Self-confident
  • Reliable
  • Friendly
  • obedience
  • Joyful to work
  • Fearless
  • Affectionate
  • Concentrated
  • Nervous

If a Rottweiler is educated with the necessary competence, he is suitable therefore quite also as a family dog. For beginners this breed is however only conditionally to be recommended.

Activities with the Rottweiler

Rottweilers have a strong personality and prefer demanding occupations. Their protective instinct and strong nerves make them an excellent working dog that can be used, for example, as a service dog for the police and customs and as a private watchdog.

Apart from training as a guard dog, Rottweilers can be employed in many different ways. However, they are more workhorses than endurance runners.

In dog sports, for example, the Rottweiler feels comfortable in the following disciplines:

  • longe
  • obedience
  • retrieval

Rottweiler Diseases

The Rottweiler is one of the breeds of dogs which, due to their hereditary predisposition, are more prone to hip and elbow dysplasia. Rottweilers are also at risk for osteochondrosis, cruciate ligament tears, degenerative spinal cord inflammation and heart disease.

Rottweilers food

In order to promote the health of your dog, we recommend you to pay attention to high-quality dog food and a balanced diet from an early age. The special demands placed on Rottweilers as service and guard dogs naturally also require special feeding that takes into account the dog's nutrient and energy requirements.

Nutritional supplements such as Bellfor Gelenke & Knochen (Joints & Bones) can also help reduce the risk of joint conditions such as hip dysplasia.

The Bellfor nutrition concept offers you everything you need to feed your Rottweiler and supports the health and vitality of the four-legged friend from an early age.
