In addition, prebiotics like fructooligosaccharides (FOS) provide a good food source for the good and useful intestinal bacteria (bifidobacteria). Together they promote digestion and the absorption of nutrients. FOS can help to restore the balance between the “good” and the “bad” bacteria if there are too many “bad” bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract.
