Food intolerance and food allergies in dogs are unfortunately on the increase.
Signs are disorders of the digestive tract (vomiting, diarrhoea, and bloating) and skin disorders. This puts a considerable burden on the well-being of the dogs.
The feed allergy activates the immune system against albuminous substances and fights them. The most common reactions occur in cereals such as wheat, barley, oats, rye.
Meanwhile, some dogs have also developed allergies to different types of meat.
As already mentioned, the immune system reacts negatively to albuminous substances and not to fat!
Can Bellfor help?
Bellfor offers two products that can help dogs with food allergies.
- Naturally Good Feast - grain-free dog food - cold pressed
- Farm Feast - grain-free dog food
Both are based on insect proteins
How can grain-free dog foo with proteins from insects help my dog with food allergies?
The quality of the used proteins is expressed by a complete amino acid profile. The more amino acids and the higher their content per kilogram, the better the quality of the used proteins. Amino acids are constituents of proteins. Plants include for example just a few amino acids. Some meats contain not all amino acids.
Bellfor takes an innovative, healthy way for your dog
The proteins of the larvae of the black soldier fly, which we use for our Bellfor range, have a complete amino acid profile with a high concentration.
Insects had to prevail over millions of years to all environmental influences, and so created a complete bio-system.
Since the larvae of the black soldier fly are able to convert the eaten and ingested plant protein into animal protein, the protein of the larva is of especially high quality.
Dogs can digest animal protein better and more easily than vegetable protein.
Dogs need high-quality meat!
Dogs are semi-carnivore and therefore daily high-quality meat are needed to meet their protein needs. A short digestive tract leaves little time for the dog to process nutrients. For this reason, dogs need a high-quality source of protein. Because the higher quality the amino structure of the protein, the lower the risk that a dog gets allergic problems or problems in the gastrointestinal tract.
The larvae are directly processed in the same operation in which they grow up. As the result, the larva is processed into protein in less than 5 minutes. This has an enormous impact on the quality of the protein, because the BAI (biogenic amines index) is significantly below the value 1.
The BAI is an index which indicates the freshness of meat. The fresher the meat, the lower this number: (http://www.petfoodindustry.com/articles/521-analyzing-amines)
